Blogging? Not my strong point I tend to spend more time on my facebook page for An Eye Full Creations. I have 3 facebook pages and 3 websites to take care of so that's my excuss and I am sticking to it. But once in awhile I do come across a great article that really can make a difference to my students and my own art work so please watch this great video on knowing the difference between natural fabric and fabrics with poly and such in them. This is a wonderful tool for those who make children's clothes as well

Commission Art WorkWhen doing Commission pieces many artists agree to provide the art piece providing the buyer allows for Artistic Licence. So what does that mean? The freedom to create an artwork, musical work, or piece of writing based on the artist's interpretation and mainly for effect; also called poetic license. It's a brave artist that does commission work as it is hard to understand or know what the buyer really wants. It works out better for both parties if the buyer understands the artist and has seen a lot of their work and why they create art the way they do. Some feel that artistic licence is cheating, how so? I feel to allow an artist artistic licence is to truly own an original piece of work created from the heart. Well summer is almost over and it has been a wild busy summer. Thanks to everyone that stopped by my booths this summer and said hello Special thanks to all that loved my work enough to buy it which always motivates one to create more & those who took a class with me it was a blast, thanks. This piece was a fun piece i made for the Langley Township 7 art in the vine event which was wonderful to me. I can't take the credit for being original because I did see something like it years ago however I'm afraid I don't know what the medium was but it was very cool. Have a great and creative fall everyone! JULY PAVERPOL TIPS To insure years of outdoor enjoyment of your sculptures and to avoid fading "If you want to put a sculpture made of colored textile and or Paverpol transparent outside, then leave it to harden for two weeks inside. Then apply 2 layers of outdoor semi gloss or gloss varnish. Marine varnish is always the best choice This treatment avoids white mildew in very damp weather".. If your sculptures do get a white mildew on them try cleaning them well with a soft brush and water, bring them in doors for a weeks until they are completely dry, If your weather has been dry for a long period you may not need to bring it indoors for so long. If you are applying varnish to an older piece make sure it is clean first. Did you know that you can brighten up or re paint your sculptures? Always do a test to see how your sculpture will look before you try this. Wise women words Kiki Smith: Just do your work. And if the world needs your work it will come and get you. And if it doesn't, do your work anyway. You can have fantasies about having control over the world, but I know I can barely control my kitchen sink. That is the grace I'm given. Because when one can control things, one is limited to one's own vision. Happy February! Well this might not be ART related but I thought a brilliant idea is a brilliant idea and this one tops my list for the month. I have struggled with a dark, too small linen closet for several years now and no matter how hard I try it always looks like a tornado went through it. So when I came across this idea I had to share. No more tearing my closet apart looking for that matching pillow case. Store bed sheets inside their pillowcases for easy storage and access Now if only I can find the time to do it :-D Happy 2014! Well at last I can share my announcement with you. This year I decided to pick a team and got my certification with Paverpol. Joining the Paverpol Canada team means I am linked into a family of certified teachers where we all share our knowledge and continue to learn and grow as teachers and artists. I am excited about being able to pass on valuable tips and experience from the benefit of belonging to a family of Paverpol certified teachers. I am already jazzed about putting together a couple of new classes so stay tuned for the spring collection! A wise man once said "Happiness is something to love, something to do & something to hope for... My hope is that my work and my students work will ignite and inspire you to get those creative juices flowing. Learning a new art form will let you escape your worries & joyfully express yourself with your hands like so many artists before you. Join me and let's discover the inner artist in you! |
Phyllis SabeanI love coaching others to become their creative self. It is so exciting to watch eyes light up when they make something in one of my classes. It takes courage to leave your comfort zone, I know, I do it everyday. So come on out on that limb with me, trust me the view is grand... ART is the only Archives

CategoriesLife is pretty simple: You do some stuff. Most fails. Some works. You do more of what works. If it works big, others quickly copy it. Then you do something else. The trick is the doing something else. |
